Tell your friends and family members about your goal and ask for their help in staying focused. Hopefully they will motivate you to make good decisions and give you honest feedback when you don’t. Ideally, you will find people who are good listeners for when you’re frustrated with a small setback or proud of your significant progress. Research shows that having family and friends who are supportive of your healthy eating and exercise goals improves your long-term weight-loss success!
Sometimes clients can feel discouraged if their spouse or close friends do not support the changes they’re trying to make. Even though they care about you, they may not be interested in making similar changes, or may even feel jealous if you lose weight.
